Complete simulator
This section details the complete simulator as each of it's components are installed, tested and made operational. It is housed in my study where there's plenty of access network connections for online flying. It's a little snug but perfectly adequate for any type of flying.
It all started with a massive cleanout and rearrangment of my study. You should have seen it before!
The rearrangements have resulted in a free area of 3.2m x 2.4m, and considering the sim's footprint is approx 2.1 x 1.5 that leaves plenty of surrounding room for movement as you'll see in the ensuing pix.
The base is in two sections for ease of installation however they are now connected together with metal plates to avoid movement. It's also on castors to allow any minimal movement for positioning. Carpet is also layed for complete comfort and realism.
First stage of the main panel mount and yoke mechanism.
Main panel MDF backing which provides a rigid structure to mount the 3 LCD monitors and plastic panel.
Centre pedestal and seat mountings complete with subwoofers!
Front view of final assembly with rear speakers and overhead lighting installed.
And all up and running!! /Recently purchased 22" LCD screens for outside view and an Opencockpits MCP 737NG.....Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!
Panels are connected to the TH2GO and running in a widescreen resolution of 3072x768. Best frame rates are achieved by selecting Full Screen mode in FS. This shot has me in transit to Newcastle from Sydney at 10000 feet.
View from the jump seat. This is also what the stuardess sees!
Not too much of a mess behind the scenes, however I haven't connected all my switches and IO cards yet!
I intend putting LED's on the underside for panel illumination.
